The Retro Kids

"When we walk down the street, people look at us like we’ve been stuck in a time capsule for 15 years,” said Ladaz Marshall, 20, who was wearing snug acid-washed jeans, leopard-print high-top Pumas and a Reebok track jacket from 1988 that he found on eBay. “But this is how we really dress every day. We love it.” That was a quote from the retro kids themselves.

Me personally i love the retro kids. They represent freedom from todays expectations. They give people courage to be free to dress the way they want without following trends. They Pave a way for creativity . Leave a note telling whether u feel them or not.

when it was one person doing it. yeah it was cool. but its no longer individuality when it becomes a trend. which it has. a fad that will pass like all others. personally, im not into that. i can appreciate style and individuality but not when it becomes mass produced. ppl are starting to take it a lil too far. they fabricate an image of themselves, a certain style that is not them. at all. that's my say.

They remind me of these kids in Atlanta that call themselves "The 80's Babies". I think that the trend is kinda dead now due to overkill.

i agree with the overkill comment that was made just before mine. When the 80's theme came back out i first saw it from ppl in new york. its trickled on down to atlanta now and its just not the same. I think the whole purpose to that was to be different, stand out, and be expressive in a way that many people are too afraid to be. however, it kinda backfired a bit because now everyone who calls themselves different is just blending in. I mean its still interesting to look at once in awhile tho!

"Always in moderation" is a rule of thumb for almost....anything ha! Head to toe in one brand isnt okay...so head to toe in neon aint cool either. A dookie rope here---some risky business shades there is fine. Style means being able to do a variety of different looks--80s everyday isnt style.
One thing that is NEVER okay with me---MAN HIPS. Just like a female, niggas need to make sure they have the right jeans for their shape. Those skinny jeans dont work on all females--so they dont work on all guys. Shapely women can wear them--shapely men should not have extra tight pants. Volumptuous lookin niggas are never going to be in style. The wide-bodied seriously shouldnt wear tight pants.

I totally feel them. They remind me of our own kidsss here in Holland called the Amsterdam Club Kids. They dress very dary and it totally rocks (in my opinion). I adore streetstyle, and they take it to a whole, more interesting, level. Just is these Retro Kids do, really like it!

You should check out the ACK site: www.theclubkids.nl!
